Badlander: A Fury of Thorns(™) is a Darkly Dashing Fantasy Roleplaying Game. The Three Musketeers meets the Witcher, with a side of Hunters Hunted, all set in a bespoke fantasy setting created by the master of world-building himself, Mark Rein•Hagen, the creator of Vampire: The Masquerade and the World of Darkness. Update on autographs
about 2 years ago – Sat, Feb 26, 2022 at 11:54:16 PM

We apologize. We had a miscommunication on our team. Originally Mark had intended to be in the US to sign books, but with the closing of so many things like game conventions and limited travel, that simply wasn't an option. Instead, he signed and the labels that were placed in the front of each Gazetteer. We were supposed to do both Gazetteer and Cyclopedia, but in the cancelled flights and such, that message got lost in the shuffle.

But we'll make this right.

We've already talked it out, and we'll get more of those individually autographed labels to each of you who ordered books at that tier. We're on it already, but as Mark lives almost on the border of Russia, we anticipate that shipping from Eastern Europe could be a bit slower than we like. But we're on it.

In the meantime enjoy the books. Don't they look incredible? Run some games, tell us how they go, and we'll get those extra autographs to you as fast as international shipping allows us.

On its way!!
about 2 years ago – Thu, Feb 24, 2022 at 08:22:06 AM

Shipping is well underway, and we couldn't be more excited for you to finally see the physical copies of BloodStone Isle. One game store owner commented "In all my years of this, I have never seen such good looking books. These are absolutely incredible!" We hope you love these books as much as we do. The Curse of BloodStone Isle was a joy to make, and we hope they're a joy to read through and play through in your future campaigns. If you run any BSI stories, make sure you drop us a line. Tell us the bits that you liked. Tell us how the story goes. Which dark forces on the island are defeated, and which triumph?

And now, stay tuned! Our next project, the Badlander Handbook, is in in layouts, and that Kickstarter won't be far off. In fact, we have over a dozen projects planned for the next few years. And yes, Mark is returning to his vampire roots down the road, so you won't want to miss that.

We also want to give a mention to our friends who are working on another game, the Song of the Nehmet, a gritty 5E campaign that might have a few familiar faces in the art and stretch goals. Check them out on Kickstarter as well; you might like what you see, and we're excited to see them hit their goals.

Our Latest Update
about 2 years ago – Sun, Jan 23, 2022 at 07:50:59 PM

As you all know, our intention was to ship before Christmas and have the fastest kickstarter that we could manage. We knew in these crazy times that there would be shipping delays, and that we needed to take steps to mitigate around that. And so we didn't print overseas, for fear of our product languishing in an off-coast shipping container for months. We also knew that other publishers would be struggling through similar struggles, and we tried to anticipate working around the busier schedules of domestic printers.

What we could not realize was just how much the paper shortage would also throw things off.

So where are we at? Our printers tell us that we're just about done. As you know, the Gazetteer and Cyclopedia are done, and now the Combat Screens, poster-map of BloodStone Isle, and art-prints have been finished. The paper shortage has slowed the printing of the Covevant book down a bit, but we still anticipate that being done any day now, and when that book is printed, we can ship out these beautiful products. And then we can start advertising our Badlander game, which has been in the works for longer than the Curse of BloodStone Isle has been, and we think you'll love it.

These times of shortages and shipping delays have been endlessly frustrating for everyone, in every industry, but especially in the gaming industry lately. We at Lostlorn Games hope that you are staying sane and healthy in these anxious times. On behalf of LLG, thank you for staying with us, and hang in there. We're almost there, and then we can celebrate like pirates at home port!

We hate delays, but...
over 2 years ago – Sun, Dec 19, 2021 at 10:42:24 AM

We knew going into this, as you did, that shipping these days isn't as efficient as it was. Videos of barges with shipping containers languishing at seas has filled our news. For this and other conscientious reasons we chose to print our Curse of BloodStone Isle books in North America. We also knew that other publishers would be making similar decisions, and that printers here were overbooked.  They warned us of this. Between the backlog of North American printers and the backlog in the shipping industry, we knew, going into this, that there were factors beyond our control. We did everything we could to mitigate that, but there are some things in these days that you just cannot overcome. While we have some of our books, we do not have all of our product yet at this time.

The last two role-playing games I have backed on Kickstarter have had to revise their timetables by as much as a year each. That's a really long delay, and the good news is that we are nowhere near that far behind our schedule. We wanted, more than anything, to get you the Curse of BloodStone Isle by Christmas day, at least here in North America, and en route everywhere else. But we now see that this simply isn't possible. We've had to revise our timetable by a couple of weeks or so.

But we do get to console ourselves that a January target for a Kickstarter that ended in October is still significantly faster than almost any Kickstarter role-playing game that you will find. It's still our fast iteration strategy, and it'll be in your hands in short order. And of course the Curse of BloodStone Isle is just the beginning...

From Mark Rein˖Hagen and all of us at Lostlorn Games, we hope that you have a wonderful end-of-the-year holiday season. Drink some hot cocoa, roll some dice, and tell some amazing stories. We'll be doing the same.
